No skill yet 10 catalysts once to gain any random skill - accept it temporarily Rank 1-5 100 catalysts at a time, you always choose the skill you want Rank 6 (skill change) 10 (primal) or 50 (elemental) catalysts at a time, refuse wrong random skills
Notes It may be beneficial to stop at rank 4 or 5 and use the bad luck protection for the last ranks
Also, it is disadvantageous to spend less catalysts for random skills - at least before rank 6

Replacing a skill Once you reach rank V or VI, switching becomes cheap!
Another change is that spending 100 catalysts gives you almost as much chance of getting an upgrade than spending 10.
So it becomes profitable to spend less, and even sometimes to bet on random skills: if you do not get the result you want, just refuse it.
Note that at rank V I would personnally still spend 100 at a time, for the possibility of getting a rank VI

Crystallized Might (Bad Luck Protection) Whenever you spend catalysts you gain crystallized might . Once you gain 3000 you can choose to use them to increase the skill of your choice by one level.
Note that once you reach 3000 might you will no longer accumulate more until you spend them.
To reach 3000 might, you need to spend either 3000 elemental catalysts or 7500 primal catalysts .
